Runescape – Pest Control Guide

Introduction

Void Knight Pest Control Island

Void Knight Pest Control Island

Once here you head to the lander of your choice depending on your combat lvl, once the lander has 25 players you are taken to the main pest island as shown below.

Void Knight Pest Control Island

Void Knight Pest Control Island

Strategies and Tactics

Obviously, destroying the 4 portals is a much faster and easier task than trying to keep the Void Knight alive for 20 minutes. While it is helpful to have a few players killing the Void Knight’s attackers, a majority of players should be focusing on the 4 portals. Here is a breakdown of what each player should do.
Portal Destroyers
Those killing portals should head as soon as possible to the portal which is first to be unshielded, the first unshielding occurs 15 seconds into the game. If any Spinners are in the vicinity of the portal they must be killed as quickly as possible as they can heal the portal’s health. This is also a priority as when a portal is destroyed, any nearby Spinners will explode, poisoning you and nearby players. Also, if you see a Ravager appear, you should kill it before it can break down gates. Otherwise, your full attention should be on destroying portals, and you should not even bother attacking the other unspecified NPCs. For the best chance of success have all Portal Destroyers attack and destroy each portal as it becomes unshielded. A new portal becomes unshielded every 30 seconds. Moving as a large team should allow you to destroy the current portal before the subsequent portal becomes unshielded. .
Note: The Brawlers will block your movement, so it may take extra effort to get around them. Fortunately, Brawlers will present the same problem for the other pests, as well. This makes them ideal for use as walking barricades to protect the knight, which brings us to…
Void Knight Protectors
You can bring a hatchet and hammer to repair gates. Repairing barricades and gates earns you 5 crafting xp per log and 100 damage towards the minimum 500 damage you need to earn points. Make an effort to keep gates closed, and attack almost* anything you can that
hits the Void Knight. You may even want to have one or two protectors to the south, on the other side of the gate, to attack any defilers that may be ranging the Void Knight.
The Void Knight gets healed 60 points each time a portal is destroyed. He can also heal himself a few points at
timed intervals.
If you want to have an assured victory, have about 5-8 of your 25 people be Protectors. Have 2 of them stand in front of the East and West gates, open or closed, to block the NPCs that walk in (as they can not walk through you). These players will get experience fighting them off as they come to the gate, so their position is not a fruitless one. (Alternatively, these players can lure Brawlers onto the platform to block for them.) Have the others kill the various shifters, or other creatures, that managed to get through by some way or another, and protect the southern gate.
This will greatly help protect the Void Knight while the other players work on portals, and you will never have to worry about if the gates are broken down. Make sure the 2-3 players blocking are in their position the entire time. If they move, the line will break up and they will not be able to block your enemies alone. Remember, if you are blocking at the East or West gate, you can ONLY attack the NPC adjacent to you. Ignore the Ravagers and Splatters that may wander through you, and just attack the enemies in line as they approach you.
These forms of blocking will entirely prevent any monsters from the East or West gates, and any from the South gate if blocking with a Brawler, attacking the Void Knight. (Except those pesky teleporting Shifters, of course.)
Players blocking the East or West gates can choose to do so outside with gates closed, or inside with gates open. In either case, if you are not blocking a gate do not go near them, and DO NOT KILL BRAWLERS BEING USED FOR BLOCKING. Walking through these players or killing these Brawlers allows the enemies to pass, so even though you may be trying to help repair a gate or get a little xp/zeal, your actions could be counter-productive.

While the game is in progress, the top right corner of the game window will display the health status of the portals. If there is a grey semi circle in the portal picture, it means that the portal’s shield hasn’t dropped yet. The top left corner displays the Void Knight’s health status, the amount of damage you’ve done and the time left to play.
Note: You will only get half the experience when fighting. For example, if you use aggressive mode on your weapon, and hit a 200, you would normally get 80 Strength experience. But in Pest Control, you only get half of that, 40 experience.

Portal Weaknesses

Void Knight Pest Control Portal Weaknesses - Yellow
Void Knight Pest Control Portal Weaknesses - Blue
Void Knight Pest Control Portal Weaknesses - Purple

Void Knight Pest Control Portal Weaknesses

Each portal is week to diff styles of attack and its usefull to take range and melee weapons to each game.

Below are the portal patterns. When playing pest control please make sure you attack the spinners so they do not heal the portals and remember to attack the portal closest to you.

THE PORTAL PATTERNS ARE:

PURPLE BLUE YELLOW RED
PURPLE YELLOW BLUE RED
BLUE PURPLE RED YELLOW
BLUE RED YELLOW PURPLE
YELLOW PURPLE RED BLUE
YELLOW RED PURPLE BLUE

Players with 45+ Ranged may wish to use Chinchompas as their exploding attack will deal a massive amount of damage to the monsters surrounding the portal. The attack damages up to 9 monsters in a 3×3 area surrounding the targeted monster.

Where to Play
Since the themed worlds update, Worlds 53, 69, 115 and 144 have been designated PC Central. You can pretty much guarantee that at any time, day or night, there’ll be enough people there for a game. World 144 is usually the Pest Control world for 100+ players that aren’t in a PC group.

There are many clan around to join for pc, the best ones I have listed here:-
SOULFIRE
SPIRIT
VOD
VMC
HU
PCD
PCN
ME

You will see them on dock recruiting after there clans hop worlds.

Rewards

Upon success, you will receive some Void Knight Commendation Points. Each boat gives a different amount of points per victory:
The Novice boat gives 2 points.
The Intermediate boat gives 3 points.
The Veteran boat gives 4 points.
If you win by destroying all 4 portals, you will receive GP as well, which you get at the end of the round without needing to redeem any points. The amount is 10 times your combat level, so if you are level 100, you will get 1,000 GP for each successful voyage.
After you have 250 points, you cannot collect any more. With each point you may choose experience in any combat skill (note, slayer is NOT a combat skill), or you may choose to purchase Void Knight armour, certain summoning charms*, or herb, seed or mineral packs. Just go to any of the Void Knights wandering around the Outpost and right click on him/her to get the option to “Exchange”. When spending your points, there are three tabs to choose from as shown below :-

Void Knight Pest Control Rewards - xp on combat stats

Void Knight Pest Control Rewards – xp on combat stats

Here points are exchanged for xp on combat stats

Void Knight Pest Control Rewards - Armour

Void Knight Pest Control Rewards – Armour

Here is where you find your void armour

Void Knight Pest Control Rewards - Consumables

Void Knight Pest Control Rewards – Consumables

Here are herbs, minerals, seeds,charms

If you want to know in advance how the experience is determined, here is what you get for each point:
Combat Skills: (Level2)/600 = X (Rounded down) * 35
Magic/Ranged: (Level2)/600 = X (Rounded down) * 32
Prayer: (Level2)/600 = X (Rounded down) * 18
For example, if you have level 70 in attack, using your point to raise attack would give you (702)/600 = 4900/600 = 8.166666667. That rounded down becomes 8. Then 8 * 35 = 280 experience.
If you exchange 10 points at once, you get a 1% bonus on top of the per-point amount. And if you exchange 100 points at once, you get a 10% bonus. At level 70 attack, 100 points would get you 280×100 = 28000. 10% of 28000 is 28000 * 0.10 = 2800. 28000 + 2800 = 30800 experience. It’s like getting 10 points for free! Points can only be spent 1 at a time, 10 at a time, or 100 at a time, so spending them individually would involve a *lot* of clicking! For these reasons, it’s worth saving up until you’ve got 10 or 100 points and using them at once on one skill.

Nothing more to say except HAVE FUN AT PC ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

3.0 [ THE KILLING ]

After this point, in a team situation the people who are maging need to descend down the ladder, praying mage, attack rex making sure not to Ice barrage him in place, whilst he has your attention you need to follow the next step of pictures/text to lure him into position. (You will need to tank supreme whilst this is going on)

Luring Rex

Luring Rex

Luring Rex

Go down the ladder, run as far south then run east along the south side of the island, Continue praying mage, step out and mage Rex to attract him to you, once rex has run south east towards you inform the melee/rangers to come in.

Luring Rex

Luring Rex

Once you have maneuvered Rex into this position, run north nut make sure to hug the east wall, you should eventually have Rex behind you and you want to end up in this position.

Luring and Killing Rex

Luring and Killing Rex

When Rex is dead, repeat the process, 1 person runs south (Lurer) staying quite close to the south/east walls, ensuring you don’t lure Prime/Supreme onto your team. Step out a little and wait for Rex to spawn, mage him and repeat the process of the lure.

Killing Supreme / Prime

The initial killing spot of Supreme and Prime make no difference, you will be informed by the magers when Rex has been lured, only then should you enter the dungeon. Once you are in you will need to instantly Brew/Ext Def/OVL up, and melee Supreme all the time praying mage.

Killing Supreme / Prime

Killing Supreme / Prime

Once you have killed Supreme, run north and sit as close to the north wall as possible so that when Rex is killed and he spawns, he cannot run to you and start attacking, this makes it easier for the mages to continue with there lure process.

Killing Supreme / Prime

Killing Supreme / Prime

When you have downed Supreme and Prime, run north, be sure to not run into Rex as it will jump out of its lure spot.

The following picture will show where you should be standing at all times whilst waiting for Prime to spawn, please note, if you don’t want Supreme to hit you whilst you are killing Prime DO NOT MOVE out of the location, allow Supreme to maneuver himself to you, he will auto attack you once he is close enough.

Killing Supreme / Prime

Killing Supreme / Prime

Once prime has attacked you, and he’s down, take care running out to the south praying Range, claw spec/ags/balmung/whip Supreme he usually drops in 30 seconds with 10+ people.

Run back north to the DD spot for Prime and repeat.

If Rex spawns at the same time as Supreme, quickly kill supreme, all melee players run north, having 1 lurer (leader of trip) meleeing rex, as well as the magers attacking. Rex should stick to the meleer. Run south, then wait for him to follow, hug him around the south wall following through to east and place him into the lure position for magers, just like in the mage guide above.

Barbarian Assault get the scroll on the table

Barbarian Assault get the scroll on the table

When you have a full team, go down the ladder and the wave will start

– or getting an invite for another team. If u need points in a specific role you can get a team by saying “coll here” or “attack here” to notify people of which role you need points in.

2. The game

There are 4 roles : attackers, collector, defender and healer

Quick explanation of every role

Attacker

Your job is to kill the penance rangers and melee’ers spawning from the north farwest portal and north middlewest portal. The important thing is that you use the right attack style which is called to you by the collector. The best weapon to be an attacker is a weapon with all 4 attack styles like a dragon scimitar

Barbarian Assault Attacker

Barbarian Assault Attacker

Attackers should run to this position and use the right attack style

Collector

Your job is to collect eggs that the monsters drop. You need to collect the right colour which is called to you by the attacker. The more eggs you collect the more points you receive.

Barbarian Assault Collector

Barbarian Assault Collector

Collectors should follow the attacker and pick up the right eggs the monsters drops

Healer

Your job to keep the party members alive using the vial in your invent and the pond near your starting position. You also need to kill the penance healers using the food and items. You use the food that you get called by the defender on the penance healers to kill them.

Barbarian Assault Healer

Barbarian Assault Healer

Using worms on the healers to kill them

Barbarian Assault Healer Using worms on the healers to kill them

Healing other players

Defender

Your job is to kill the penance defenders by laying food at the trap and making the runners go on the trap. When 2 runners have died on the trap, the trap will break and you need to repair it by using the hammer and logs that spawn in the northmiddle part of the map. Lay the food you get called by the healer.

3. The waves

The game consists of 10 waves. 1 beeing the easiest, 10 beeing the hardest and the penance queen

The party has 5 members so u can put 2 people in 1 role. The most used set-up is 1 collector, 1 healer, 1 defender and 2 attackers. This works from wave 1 to about 7 or 8 depending on the rank of the healer and how good the team is. After rank 7 or 8 you may use 2 healers to make it easier.

Wave 10: The penance Queen

The map on wave 10 is a bit different then the other waves. There is only 1 turret anymore, the one on the west side of the map. In the middle of the map there is a platform as shown in the screen below.

Barbarian Assault map on wave 10 and queen

Barbarian Assault map on wave 10 and queen

Here the queen will spawn

Walkthrough of wave 10:

When you get into wave 10 start playing like normally kiilling every monster as this is necessary.

When the queen spawns all party members should run to the pond and the collector should start collecting the yellow eggs that spawn near the queen.

1. Collector collects yellow eggs
2. Gives em to healer
3. Healer poisons em using the pools around the edge of the map
4. Healers gives em to attacker
5. Attacker spikes em using the mushrooms
6. Attacker passes em to defenders
7. He uses them on the lava pools
8. Defender gives em back to collector
9. Collector loads em up in the turret
10. Shoot the queen with omega eggs

Note: 8 eggs will kill her.

Runescape – Penguin Hide & Seek

Penguin hide & Seek inventoryRunescape – Penguin Hide & SeekPenguin hide & Seek inventory

British Elites Runescape Clan

Intro

Ever thought to yourself, “I want free exp for doing literally nothing…”? Well now you can!
Throughout your time exploring the Runescape World, you may have seen little Crates, Boxes, Cacti, Toadstool or even PUMPKINS! Moving around rather slowly, almost as if they were hiding something inside. Well, they are! These sneaky little blighters are Penguins, and your job is to find them and spy on them!

In order to begin Penguin Hide & Seek you will need to complete the following Quests:
* Cold War
* Hunt for the Red Raktuber (For extra Spying of Polar Bears, which in turn, turns in to more Experience).

These quests are pretty easy, and it’s your choice of how you want to complete them. Once you have completed the quests, you can begin your hunt for those Cheeky little Penguins! Please Note: Penguin Hide and Seek can only be completed ONCE per week, the Penguins reset and 23:59 every Tuesday!

The Setup

The image below shows you what you should have worn and in your inventory when attempting Penguin Hide & Seek.
*It is essential that you wear the lightest gear possible, due to running around. You CAN bank items if there is a wilderness Penguin Location.*

Penguin hide & Seek inventory

Penguin Hide & Seek Gear

Penguin hide & Seek inventory

Penguin Hide & Seek Inventory

Take as many different means of Transport/Teleportation as you can. You can stop off at a bank whilst doing Penguins. I usually tend to check the help source on the locations before i begin setting up my inventory, simply because i can get all the teleports together and i don’t have to bank so often.

Once you have youre gear, you need to find a source of help. For those of you who would rather take the Clan Chat method, you will need to log on to World 60 and join “world60pengs” Clan Chat OR visit www.world60pengs.com

If you would rather do it faster and without the waiting time for getting into the Clan Chat, you will need to log on to World 71 and open the Runescape forums. Once here you must click “Search Threads” and type in “Penguin Whisperers”. This will bring up the latest threads on Penguin Hunting World 71.

*Please note – It can take a lot longer in the Clan Chat than it can on the Forums method. On the other hand, the Forums method isn’t always up to date to the point of the present. I prefer the forums method, simply because of how quickly you can complete Penguins.*

Penguin Hide & Seek Forum Method

Penguin Hide & Seek Forum Method

So, now you have your Gear and your Source of help, you now need to begin finding the Penguins. I tend to start with the closest area and work my way around the list, some people tend to start from the top and work down, it’s totally up to you. Once you see a penguin, it will look a little something like this:

Penguin Hide & Seek How To Find Them

Once you have clicked on the “Spy” option, you’re character will spy on the penguin like this:

Once you have spied on the penguin, you will have a chat box like the one below:
Once you have clicked on the “Spy” option, you’re character will spy on the penguin like this:

Well done, you have spied your first penguin! Do this until you have done all the penguins (There should be 10 + 1 Polar Bear*)

* Need to have done Hunt for the Red Raktuber for this

Penguin Hide & Seek Spying On Penguin Notification You Have Spied All The Penguins!

So, once you have spied all the penguins, you can claim your reward! For those who have only done Cold War, they will need to speak to Larry in Ardougne Zoo, for people who have completed Hunt for the Red Raktuber, they will have to speak to Chuck in Ardougne Zoo (Polar bear in the Cage). Below is a map showing where Larry and Chuck are located, and a route to Ardougne Zoo, in regard to an Ardougne Teleport.

Penguin Hide & Seek Claiming Rewards

Penguin Hide & Seek Claiming Rewards

The Experience reward works as follows: Penguins Points x Level you choose x 25. So, for example: I catch all 10 Penguins & 1 Polar Bear (16 Penguin Points), i place my experience onto Summoning, which is Level 76. It would work out as follows: 16x76x25=30400 experience.

So then, you have collected your reward! Congratulation! You have completed Penguin Hide & Seek!

Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) Zonda R ’09 Perfect Setup Tips

The Zonda R ’09 is a great car to win many of the harder races including both the GT All Stars, and Like the Wind series. Using a controller is not hard if you change the the accelerator and brake to R2 and L2, respectively. My basic settings for my fully built Zonda R is as follows:

Racing softs

Traction Control 3 with skid recovery and stability management on

Downforce at max, front and rear

Transmission set at 230 mph (this changes depending on the track, but this works as an all around setting)

Brakes: 5 front and rear

LSD: initial torque 7, Acc sensitivity 30, Braking sensitivity 15

Suspension: Ride height -15 front and rear, spring rate 14.5f 16.0r, all dampers at 7, roll bars at 4, camber at 2.0 front and rear, toe angle 0.0f 0.20r

This is the setup that I have been using since I go the car, and it dominates every track I go to, with very little wheel spin, and handles like a dream.

You’ll also need to buy Chassis Reinforcement, High RPM turbo, soft racing tires along with Stage 3 engine

Here is another setup for the Zonda:

30F//55R For other courses like Daytona road or suzuka just set it to max
30-55 still keeps the initial ratio when you buy the car stock (math involved = ftl).
Using lower aero will increase speed, while increasing will increase manueverability. Obviously with Daytona (oval) and Indy, you want all the speed you can get. On the other hand, more demanding courses like suzuka would require max maneuverability
LSD
IT:5 Set in the 40’s
A:12 Set in the 30’s

B:5 Set in the 10’s
I was being lazy as hell with the updated settings. I wanted it higher because sometimes I’d find my car occasionally mis-performing. For “B”, Braking would kind of turn into an issue where the whole car would spin out. Now you can atleast slide into the turn if you want, or you can just grip through it
Trans

236 (maxes out @223) (minimum)
This is the optimum transmission setting for both set-ups. For high speed races you could set it higher due to drafting and an increase of speed from that
Suspension
RH:-30F//-30R
SR:18.0F//18.0R
D(E):7F//3R
D(C):5F//1R

ARB:2F//4R
Don’t plan on touching these settings unless I totally feel like reworking it
Wheel Align
CA:1.4F//0R

TA:-0.15F/1.00R
Might be able to change these settings to turn it into a drift car
Brakes

5F//5R 10F//8R
Like i said, I kept spinning out when I would brake. With more power to the front it’s a lot less likely it happens
No Racing assists turned on Traction control:7/ABS:10
Racing assists will kill speed, but for the grip re-tune I found the above settings great. It’s possible to go lower with traction control, but I like 7
